Laura Letinsky, I did not remember I had forgotten: Untitled #80, 2003
so I’m not sure where I’ve been of late….a little lost out there in the ether, a little running around, a touch frantic in this kaleidoscopic epic of life.  anyhow, I’ve found my way back and am glad to bring this beautiful image by Laura Letinsky. the vivid sugary colours and the melancholy of the piece stand out for me, there is a sadness to it that makes me want to cry, and a beauty that almost counteracts this, yet not quite. that people have been and gone and left an emptiness behind them, yet some sort of atmosphere remains. they have left their emotional mark, elements of their lives left lingering on the table cloth, and on the space above and surrounding.  it is a beautiful haunting piece uplifting in a celebration that has been, wrenchingly sad in the emptiness in the space that remains.

Miles Aldridge, Paradis 2008

so first image posting - a difficult decision (!) - but then not that difficult at the same time, as I completely fall in love with this man’s photography whenever I view his images … goes to incredible photographer Miles Aldridge.
there’s just something about this photo by Aldridge that makes me want to look and look.  viciously beautiful, yet fragile, ethereal and delicate yet aggressive in it’s sexuality and sensuality.  it tenderly seduces and yet , in it’s naked eroticism, hits you hard, all at once.  this image certainly takes my breath from me.

first foray…

hello, ok so this is my first post as a brand shiny new blogger….rather excited, a little timid, a lot looking forward, to the journey, and to see what comes out as I edge along this well-wandered path, by those brave before me, of new blogger-dom.  thanks for taking a peek…

plus…also probably an idea to say what I’ll be blogging about.  All sorts of art, photography, design, maybe some typography thrown in, film, images, illustration, basically anything visually stunning that catches my eye, I find beautiful, surprising, strikes me, punches me in the face, or takes my breath from me…..
